UM, YOU CAN SEE THAT WHILE WE'VE HAD REALLY GOOD CAPITAL INVESTMENTS, SO THOSE BIG PROJECT INVESTMENTS, UH, WE HAVEN'T MATCHED THAT, BUT LITTLE GRAY LINE GRAY BARS AT THE BOTTOM, THAT IS OUR INVESTMENT IN MAINTENANCE. SO ON AUGUST, 2024, COUNTY COMMISSIONER'S COURT, A A UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO PLACE AN INCREASE TO THE FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT'S DEDICATED TAX RATE ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT. THE TAX RATE IS WHAT WE USE TO FUND OUR MAINTENANCE, UM, BY STATE LAW, WE CANNOT FUND MAINTENANCE WITH A BOND OR WITH, UM, WITH THAT KIND OF FUNDING. UH, SO THE PROPOSED INCREASE IS 1.58 CENTS PER A [00:25:01] HUNDRED DOLLARS VALUATION. SO IF YOU HAVE A $400,000 HOME, THAT'S GONNA BE $60 A YEAR. IF YOUR HOME IS LESS THAN THAT, IT WILL BE LESS THAN THAT. IF IT'S MORE EXPENSIVE, YOU WILL HAVE A HIGHER BILL. UM, THAT'LL BRING US APPROXIMATELY $100 MILLION IN NEW MAINTENANCE FUNDING PER YEAR. THIS WILL BE, WE CURRENTLY HAVE A BUNCH, UH, ABOUT 148 MILLION. SO IT'LL BE 248 MILLION TOTAL, UM, THAT WE'RE GONNA BE PUTTING TOWARDS MAINTENANCE. AND THIS NEW A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS WILL BE GOING DIRECTLY INTO A MAINTENANCE FUND. IT WON'T BE SPENT ON ANYTHING ELSE. IT COVERS PROJECTS THAT IMPROVE BENEFIT AND BEAUTIFY THE SUPER NEIGHBORHOODS. THEY HAVE TO BE ACCESSIBLE TO THE COMMUNITY. THEY HAVE A COST RANGING BETWEEN 500 TO $7,000 AND THE PAYMENTS ARE TO THE SUPER NEIGHBORHOODS VIA REIMBURSEMENT. UH, FOR THE SMGP, THE SUPER NEIGHBORHOODS MUST APPLY. THE APPLICATION, UH, DID GO OUT LAST WEEK ON OCTOBER 7TH, AND THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS WILL BE NOVEMBER 29TH, 20, UH, 2024. AND I KNOW THAT THERE ARE CORPORATIONS THAT ARE BUYING UP THE, A LOT OF NEIGHBORHOODS. THERE ARE A LOT OF, WE HAVE 28% INVESTORS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, RIGHT? IN ROBINDALE RIGHT NOW, FOR EXAMPLE. SO ANYWAY, SO THEY HAD TO HAVE A CASH BUYER AND IN THE PROCESS THAT KILLED THE VALUE OF THEIR HOME BY 20%. SO I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE ALL NEED TO BE AWARE OF. UH, WHEN I WAS ON CITY COUNCIL, UH, HELPED, UH, DEVELOP THE SAFE PASSING ORDINANCE, TRYING TO PROTECT CYCLISTS, UM, AND, AND ON AND ON. AND ALSO CAFE COLLEGE HOUSTON, AND DISTRICT AGE.
