I APPRECIATE MR. HUDDLESTON'S VISIT JUST AFTER HURRICANE BERYL PASSED THROUGH THE HOUSTON AREA AT THE TIME, IAN FORD, MY WIFE, ABOUT EXPRESSING ANY CONCERNS ABOUT THIS PROJECT AT THIS HEARING. OTHER NEIGHBORS WE HAVE TALKED TO HAVE THEIR OWN REASONS FOR NOT WANTING A BUILDING LIKE THIS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF THEIR HOMES, WHICH CAN POTENTIALLY CHANGE THE CHARACTER OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD. MY CONCERNS ARE, NUMBER ONE, WE LIVE NEXT DOOR TO THE LOT OWNED BY THE HOA AND CONSTRUCTION WOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE DISTRACTION AS WE BOTH WORK FROM HOME. THE NOISE WOULD HAVE A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON OUR LIVELIHOOD. NUMBER TWO, THE AREA WOULD BE FILLED WITH VEHICLES FROM OUTSIDE THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT WOULD INCREASE TRAFFIC AND PARK CARS NEAR OUR HOME, AND ESPECIALLY RAISE SAFETY CONCERNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF THORNBERRY CREEK AND WEED SNOW. NUMBER THREE. IT IS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO ENVISION THAT THE FOOTPRINT OF THIS PROPOSED BUILDING WOULD BE LIMITED TO A SIMPLE RE PLATTING OF, OF LAND EXPANSION IS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION IF THIS INITIAL DEVELOPMENT IS APPROVED AND IT WOULD OPEN THE DOOR FOR FURTHER REDUCTION OF GREEN SPACE TO CONTINUE. NUMBER FOUR, EVEN IF PROPERTY VALUES INCREASE WITH SUCH A BUILDING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, OUR HOME WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO SELL AT ANY PRICE BECAUSE OUR HOME IS DIRECTLY NEXT DOOR TO THE PROJECT SITE. TWO AND A HALF, THREE YEARS AGO, WE WERE INVOLVED IN LITIGATION WITH ANOTHER MUD DISTRICT AND OUT OF THAT CASTLEWOOD MUD RECEIVED $450,000 IN SETTLEMENT AND THE BOARD EARMARKED THAT MONEY FOR A BUILDING WE, THAT WILL BE APPLIED TO IT. IT WON'T COVER ALL THE COSTS. THE OTHER COSTS WILL BE APPLIED FROM SELLING BONDS, RECREATIONAL BONDS TO FINANCE THE REST OF IT. IT WILL NOT COST THE RESIDENTS OF THE HOAA DMED TO GET THAT BUILDING PUT IN. THERE'LL BE PARKING IN FRONT OF IT AND WE'VE GOT, OF COURSE, PROBABLY $2 MILLION OR MORE IN RECREATIONAL BONDS THAT WE COULD SELL TO DO OTHER THINGS INTO THE COMMUNITY. WERE REALLY RESTRICTED RIGHT NEXT TO THAT LOT. WE'VE GOT MASSIVE 72 INCH DRAIN LINES GO THROUGH IT DRAINING THE NEIGHBORHOOD INTO THE RETENTION POND. YOU WON'T EVER BE ABLE TO BUILD ANYTHING ON TOP OF THAT BECAUSE ALL THOSE DRAIN LINES, WE'VE REDESIGNED THE DESIGN FOR THIS BUILDING THREE TIMES BECAUSE OF UNDERGROUND STUFF THAT WE FOUND. WE INITIALLY THOUGHT WE COULD REROUTE ONE OF THOSE LINES TO THE SIDE TO ALLOW THE FOOTPRINT OF THE BUILDING. THE HOA GUIDELINES SAYS THAT FOR US TO SELL ANY PROPERTY, IT TAKES ALMOST THREE QUARTERS OF THE MEMBERSHIP TO APPROVE IT, WHICH IS AN EXTREMELY HIGH BAR.
