DATA AND WELLBEING INDICATORS IS TOOLS FOR POLICY DEVELOPMENT, PLANNING AND ACCOUNTABILITY, SEEKING EQUITY AND WORKFORCE READINESS, BEGINNING AT BIRTH, AND SUPPORTING OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN CITY DEPARTMENTS TO STRENGTHEN AND ENHANCE THE WEB OF RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES, SCHOOLS, ORGANIZATIONS, AND COMMUNITY AT LARGE. TODAY, THEY HAVE A PRESENTATION FOR US ON A HEALTH DEPARTMENT COMMUNICATION PLAN TO EFFECTIVELY SHARE INFORMATION ABOUT COVID VACCINATIONS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN WITH US. UM, TODAY WE HAVE SCOTT PACKARD, WHO IS THE, UH, CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER WITH THE, UM, HOUSTON HEALTH DEPARTMENT, AND ALSO JERRY LAREDO, THE DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH AND ANALYTICS AT LOPEZ NEGRETE COMMUNICATIONS. UM, TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE CONTEXT BEFORE WE GET UNDERWAY WITH THE PRESENTATION, I WANTED TO GIVE YOU SOME OF THE NUMBERS SURROUNDING VACCINATION RATES IN THE CITY OF HOUSTON. SO FOR PEOPLE AGE 40 AND UP, THEY, UH, RANGE FROM 81.5% TO 90% BEING FULLY VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19. WHEN YOU LOOK AT PEOPLE AGE 18 TO 39, IT'S IN THE 57 TO 73% RANGE, DEPENDING ON THE AGE GROUP. AND WE HAVE A CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY THAT YOU MAY BE FAMILIAR WITH ADDRESSING SPECIFICALLY THAT AGE GROUP. BUT WHAT WE'RE HERE TO TALK ABOUT TODAY IS PEDIATRIC VACCINATION. THAT'S FOR PEOPLE UNDER THE AGE OF 18. AND TO GIVE YOU CONTEXT ON THAT, [00:05:01] CURRENTLY ONLY 61.5% OF HOUSTONIANS AGE 12 TO 17 AND 21.6% OF HOUSTONIANS AGE FIVE TO 11 ARE FULLY VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19. SO THIS CAMPAIGN THAT WE'RE DEVELOPING WITH LOPEZ AND EGRETE COMMUNICATIONS IS AIMED SPECIFICALLY AT PARENTS OF, OF, UH, SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN TO HELP INCREASE THOSE NUMBERS, ESPECIALLY AS WE LOOK TOWARD THE FUTURE AND THE, UH, ANTICIPATED APPROVAL OR AUTHORIZATION OF VACCINES FOR CHILDREN, EVEN UNDER THE AGE OF FIVE. SO, WITH THAT, I WANTED TO SHARE THE SCREEN AND INTRODUCE, UH, JERRY LAREDO AND DAMON WILLIAMS. JERRY WILL KICK US OFF THIS AFTER THIS, UH, AFTERNOON. HE'S, UH, WITH LOPEZ LAGREE COMMUNICATIONS. JERRY. GREAT. UH, THANK YOU SCOTT. AND, UM, REALLY, UH, HAPPY TO BE HERE TODAY TO, TO ADDRESS THE COMMITTEE AND GIVE AN UPDATE ON, UH, THE RESEARCH, UH, THAT'S BEEN DONE. THE, THE CAMPAIGN IS, IS UNDERWAY IN TERMS OF DESIGN, AND THERE'LL BE A, A SMALL UPDATE ON, ON THAT, UH, AFTER WE GO THROUGH THE RESEARCH. BUT THE FOCUS TODAY, I, I, IS GONNA BE MAINLY ON PROVIDING SOME OF THE INSIGHTS THAT CAME OUT OF THE RESEARCH THAT ARE, THAT ARE GOING TO BE INFORMING AND UNDERPINNING THE CREA, THE, THE OUTREACH CAMPAIGN. AND, UH, AS A QUICK REMINDER, THIS, UH, THIS INITIATIVE IS COMING OUT OF A GRANT, UH, FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THAT HAS, UH, FUNDING FOR VACCINATION SCHOOL TESTING, UH, MITIGATION EFFORTS IN SCHOOLS, STAFFING. AND THEN ONE OF THOSE ELEMENTS IS THE PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATION CAMPAIGN. AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE HERE, UH, TO TALK ABOUT. THIS CAMPAIGN HAS AS A TARGET AUDIENCE, THE PARENTS OF SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN, AND THE GOAL IS TO ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION IN THE ON-CAMPUS TESTING AND VACCINATION. SO THE RESEARCH THAT WE CONDUCTED WAS DONE IN FEBRUARY. UM, AND THE OBJECTIVE WAS REALLY TO, TO, TO SPEAK TO PARENTS AND UNDERSTAND WHAT WERE THE KEY BARRIERS AND WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MOTIVATIONS FOR THEM GETTING THEIR CHILDREN VACCINATED, UH, AND ENCOURAGING THEM TO PARTICIPATE ON THE ON-CAMPUS TESTING PROGRAMS THAT ARE BEING OFFERED. AND SO THIS WAS QUALITATIVE RESEARCH, AND WE SPOKE WITH PARENTS OF UNVACCINATED CHILDREN'S FIVE TO 17, ALTHOUGH MOST OF THEM WERE PARENTS OF CHILDREN'S WITH AGES FIVE TO 11, UH, THAT AS WAS MENTIONED EARLIER, THAT IS THE GROUP THAT HAS A PARTICULARLY LOW RATE OF VACCINATION AND IS REALLY THE, THE, THE BULLSEYE FOR THIS, UH, FOR THIS COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN, WE SPOKE TO A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE IN A FOCUS GROUP SETTING, UM, WITH RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF HOUSTON THROUGH, UH, THAT CAME FROM ALL DIFFERENT GEOGRAPHIC AND, UH, AND, UH, DEMOGRAPHIC AREAS OF THE CITY. WE HAD, UH, SOME GROUPS THAT WERE CONDUCTED IN SPANISH AS WELL. THEY WERE AMONGST, UH, HISPANIC, AFRICAN AMERICAN, WHITE AND, UM, UH, ASIAN, UH, PARENTS TO TRY TO GET A, A A BROAD RANGE OF VIEWS. AND THEN WE ALSO DID, WE SUPPLEMENTED THOSE WITH IN-DEPTH INTERVIEWS WITH WHAT, WHAT WE CALL TRUSTED VOICES. UH, THESE WERE, THESE ARE PEOPLE THAT ARE VERY EMBEDDED IN THE COMMUNITY, WORKING DIRECTLY WITH PARENTS, UM, IN A SETTING THAT'S EITHER, UH, IN THE SCHOOLS, AN EDUCATIONAL SETTING OR A HEALTHCARE SETTING. SO THAT, UH, INCLUDED, WE TALKED TO SCHOOL PRINCIPALS, NURSES, UH, SOCIAL WORKERS, HEALTHCARE WORKERS, AGAIN, FROM DIFFERENT, UH, UH, COMMUNITIES AND, AND SEGMENTS. SO LET'S JUMP INTO THE, THE, THE KEY FINDINGS. UH, WE HAD SORT OF SIX BIG, UH, INSIGHTS THAT WE TOOK AWAY THAT ARE, THAT ARE GONNA GO THERE. UH, WE, THESE ARE PHRASED FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE, OF THE PARENTS. UH, SO YOU MAY NOT BE USED TO SEEING 'EM SORT OF ARTICULATED THIS WAY, BUT THE, THE INSIGHTS, UH, ARE I'M PAYING ATTENTION, UH, THE NEED TO ACKNOWLEDGE MY CONCERNS, UH, THE IMPORTANCE OF ENCOURAGING AND NOT SHAMING, UH, THE IMPORTANCE OF SHOWING AND NOT JUST TELLING. AND THEN, UM, THE LACK OF TRUST, UH, BUT THE FACT THAT PEOPLE ARE OPEN. SO LET LET ME GO THROUGH EACH ONE OF THESE, UH, IN DEPTH AND, UM, WE'LL TALK ABOUT WHAT WE FOUND. THE FIRST THING THAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR IS TO, UNDER MR. LE, CAN I INTERRUPT YOU BEFORE YOU GO ON INTO THAT, I WANTED TO JUST RECOGNIZE TWO OTHER COUNCIL MEMBERS THAT HAVE JOINED US REAL VERY QUICKLY, SO EXCUSE ME FOR, FOR THE INTERRUPTION. BUT, UM, UH, JUST AS WE GOT STARTED, COUNCIL MEMBER, UH, DAVID ROBINSON JOINED US, AND, AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE COUNCIL MEMBER, UH, ALCORN, WHO'S, WHO'S HERE IN THE CHAMBERS AS WELL. THANK, THANK YOU. WONDERFUL. WELCOME. SO, THE, THE, THE FIRST, UH, THE FIRST AREA THAT WE WANTED TO GET INTO WAS WHAT LEVEL OF ATTENTION AND AWARENESS DO PARENTS HAVE? BECAUSE, [00:10:01] UH, DEPENDING ON THAT, THAT WOULD, UH, MODIFY HOW WE MIGHT GO ABOUT, UH, CREATING THE CAMPAIGN. BUT ONE OF THE THINGS WE FOUND IS THAT THE, THE PARENTS ARE ACTUALLY VERY ENGAGED. UH, THE DECISION OF WHETHER OR NOT TO VACCINATE THEIR KIDS IS DEFINITELY TOP OF MIND AMONGST ALMOST ALL THE PARENTS THAT WE TALK TO. UM, AND, AND THEY'RE ACTIVELY ENGAGED AND THINKING ABOUT VACCINATION. SO IT'S NOT THAT THERE'S A LACK OF AWARENESS, UH, OR IF WE NEED TO HIGHLIGHT THAT THERE IS A VACCINE AND THAT THEIR KIDS ARE ELIGIBLE, THAT THAT, IT'S, IT'S DEFINITELY TOP OF MIND. THE IMPORTANT THING TO UNDERSTAND HERE IS THAT THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOW PEOPLE LOOK AT THE DECISION TO VACCINATE THEMSELVES AND TO VACCINATE THEIR CHILDREN. AND THERE'S A, THERE'S A DIFFERENT LEVEL OF, UH, OF CONCERN AND HOW THEY SEE IT. SO, MOST PARTICIPANTS SEE BEING VACCINATED AS A NECESSARY RISK THAT THEY TOOK PERSONALLY, IF, IF THEY WERE IN FACT VACCINATED. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO THE KIDS, THEY SEE VACCINATION IN THIS DIFFERENT LIGHT, AND THEY'RE MORE RISK AVERSE. SO THAT'S IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND. AND THEN THE PARENTS ARE REALLY PAYING ATTENTION. THEY'RE KEEPING THEMSELVES UPDATED, AND THEY'RE LOOKING TO HEAR MORE. UM, SO THAT, THAT'S THE FIRST PIECE THAT WE FOUND. THE SECOND ONE IS, THERE'S A REAL IMPORTANCE FOR THEIR CONCERNS TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED. SO THEY HAVE, UM, THERE'S A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT CONCERNS THAT CAME UP, BUT THE ONE THAT WAS UNIVERSAL AND OVERARCHING IS THIS CONCERN, UH, THAT CHILDHOOD VACCINATION HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR LONG-TERM SIDE EFFECTS. AND, AND THIS IS REALLY COMING WHEN YOU DIG INTO IT, IT'S THAT MANY PARENTS BELIEVE THAT BECAUSE OF THE SPEED AT WHICH THE VACCINE WAS DEVELOPED, AND THE RELATIVELY SHORT TIME IT WOULD, IT'S BEEN IN THE MARKET THAT THERE MIGHT BE SOME AS YET UNKNOWN LONG-TERM SIDE EFFECTS. SO, UM, IRONICALLY, THE, THE VERY SORT OF MIRACLE AND, UH, UH, UH, AND SUCCESS OF THIS VACCINE IS ALSO PART OF THE THING THAT IS GIVING A BIT OF PAUSE TO THE PARENTS BECAUSE THEY THINK THAT THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN SOME TYPE OF SHORTCUT OR SOMETHING. AND THEN, AND THEN A KEY RECOGNITION HERE IS THAT THE DECISION ISN'T AN EASY ONE FOR THESE PARENTS. I THINK, UH, OBVIOUSLY FOR, FOR MANY PEOPLE, EVEN A MAJORITY OF PEOPLE, UH, WITH SOME OF THE OLDER KIDS, THE DECISION HAS BEEN TO VACCINATE, BUT THEY, THEY, THIS, THIS, UM, THEY DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO, THEY, THEY NEED THAT RECOGNITION THAT, THAT THEY'RE STRUGGLING WITH IT. AND IT ACTUALLY LEADS INTO OUR NEXT INSIGHT, WHICH WAS REALLY A VERY IMPORTANT INSIGHT ABOUT HOW THEY FEEL, WHICH IS, UH, ON THE NEXT SLIDE, THIS, UH, WE'RE CALLING IT, ENCOURAGE ME, DON'T SHAME ME. SO AS THE PARENTS ARE SITTING THERE AGONIZING OVER WHETHER TO VACCINATE THEIR KIDS, THEY'RE VERY SENSITIVE AND THEY, THEY'RE RECEIVING A LOT OF PRESSURE. THEY'RE GETTING A LOT OF PRESSURE, PARTICULARLY FROM THEIR, UH, YOU KNOW, HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS, BUT IT'S OBVIOUSLY IN THE MEDIA A LOT. THEY GET IT AT SCHOOL. UH, THERE'S A LOT GOING ON. AND THEY RESENT IF THEY FEEL LIKE THEY'RE BEING SHAMED, PARTICULARLY, OR IF, IF A MESSAGE IS COMING ACROSS AS VERY COERCIVE IN NATURE, THAT THAT MAKES THEM FEEL RESENTFUL. AND THE SHAMING AND THE FEAR INDUCING ACTUALLY APPEARS TO MAKE PARENTS LESS OPEN, UH, TO HEARING ARE ARGUMENTS FOR VACCINATION. SO THAT'S AN IMPORTANT PIECE TO UNDERSTAND FOR THE TONE AND THE APPROACH IN THE CAMPAIGN, BECAUSE WHAT WE DON'T WANNA DO IS CLOSE PEOPLE'S MINDS WHEN WE'RE ABOUT TO DELIVER, UM, YOU KNOW, A MESSAGE OF ENCOURAGEMENT, UH, UH, TO, TO GET THEM TO VACCINATE THEIR KIDS. AND THEN TIED IN WITH THAT IS ALSO THE SHOW ME, DON'T TELL ME. SO THE MESSAGES NEED TO BE PRESENTED AS RECOMMENDATIONS AND NOT AS ABSOLUTE TRUTHS, BECAUSE WHAT THEY, WHAT THEY UNDERSTAND IS THAT, THAT THERE'S STILL MANY UNKNOWNS ABOUT THE, THE, UH, THE, THE PANDEMIC AND COVID. AND SO WHEN, WHEN THINGS ARE SAID AS ABSOLUTE TRUTHS, THEY ACTUALLY COME ACROSS AS LESS BELIEVABLE BECAUSE THEY DON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACT THAT WHAT WE'RE SAYING IS THE PREPONDERANCE OF EVIDENCE. UM, SO THEY, THEY LIKE TO, THEY WANT TO SEE MORE DATA, UH, AND RESULTS FROM, FROM TRUSTED SOURCES THAT DON'T FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE AN AGENDA OR THAT ARE BEING COPY PASTED UNCRITICALLY. AND AN EX. AN EXAMPLE HERE IS, UH, YOU KNOW, IF SOMEONE IS A, A COACH AT A SCHOOL, UH, THAT TELLS 'EM TO, TO VACCINATE THEIR, THEY, THEY UNDERSTAND THAT, THAT THEY TRUST THE COACH, BUT THEY DON'T, THEY FEEL LIKE THE COACH MIGHT BE JUST PASSING ON, UH, UH, SOMETHING THAT WAS TOLD TO THEM, UNCRITICALLY, THEN IT, IT, IT LOSES A BIT OF OF IMPACT. SO THEY REALLY WANNA UNDERSTAND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE VACCINE VERSUS THE SIDE EFFECTS, BECAUSE PEOPLE REALLY ARE KIND OF DOING THIS WEIGHTING OF, [00:15:01] OF THE BENEFITS AND THE PERCEIVED, UH, UH, RISKS. AND SO A KEY OPPORTUNITY HERE IS THE, THE LACK OF APPRECIATION OF THE VALUE OF THE VACCINE IN REDUCING SERIOUS ILLNESS. UH, BECAUSE SO MUCH FOCUS IS ON THE INCIDENCES OF INFECTION VERSUS SEVERITY. UM, AND THIS, THIS WAS FIELDED IN FEBRUARY DURING THE, THE OMICRON SORT OF PEAK. AND, UM, AND SO THE INCIDENCES WAS A BIT SMALL. THERE WAS, THERE WAS, THERE WAS, UH, A NUMBER OF FOLKS THAT HAD THE BREAKTHROUGH INFECTIONS. AND SO WHEN PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT THE VACCINE HAS MANY BENEFITS BEYOND JUST THE INCIDENTS, THEY, THEY AREN'T NECESSARILY WEIGHING THINGS CORRECTLY, AND THEY'RE LOOKING FOR THIS INFORMATION. SO THAT'S IMPORTANT TO, UH, TO KNOW AND TO UNDERSTAND. AND THEN THE LAST PIECE HERE IS, UH, THERE'S A, A REAL, I DON'T THINK THIS IS A, A SURPRISE, BUT THERE'S A REAL LACK OF TRUST OUT THERE, UM, ACROSS THE BOARDS. UH, THE PARENTS ARE ALL VERY DISTRUSTFUL ABOUT WHAT THEY HEAR ABOUT COVID. YOU KNOW, ALMOST EVERYBODY SPENDS A TON OF TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND ACTUALLY GETS A, A MAJORITY OF THEIR INFORMATION FROM SOCIAL MEDIA. BUT THEY ALL TALKED ABOUT THE FACT THAT THEY DON'T TRUST, UH, WHAT'S COMING OUT OF THERE. SO, UM, AND, AND THE REALLY, THE, THE, THE FEW AREAS WHERE THERE WAS TRUST IS, UH, AMONGST DOCTORS, NURSES, AND OTHER FOLKS IN THE MEDICAL AND HEALTHCARE FIELD, THOSE FOLKS ARE SEEING AS, AS RELIABLE AND ALSO WHO HAVE MUCH LESS OF AN AGENDA. UM, AND THEN JUST AS A, AS A FINAL NOTE, OBVIOUSLY WE'RE, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT AN OUTREACH CAMPAIGN HERE. UH, THE MORE LOCAL, THE SOURCE OF INFORMATION, THE LESS DISTRUSTFUL THEY ARE ABOUT IT. SO, UM, YOU KNOW, NATIONAL MEDIA NETWORKS AND CABLE AND THINGS LIKE THAT. UH, VERY HIGHLY DISTRUSTED. AND THEN THE LAST PIECE, IF WE GO HERE, YOU KNOW, PROBABLY THE BIGGEST TAKEAWAY, AND THIS IS ONE THAT I I THINK IS GOOD NEWS, UH, FOR US, IS THAT WE FOUND THAT THE PARENTS ARE PERSUADABLE. AND THIS SPECIFICALLY IS TALKING ABOUT PARENTS WHO ARE THEMSELVES ALREADY VACCINATED, BECAUSE THERE WAS, WHAT WE FOUND IS THAT IF, AS A PARENT, IF YOU YOURSELF HAVEN'T MADE THAT DECISION FOR YOURSELF TO BE VACCINATED, IT'S ALMO IT'S EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, UH, AND DOUBTFUL THAT, THAT YOU'LL MAKE THAT DECISION FOR A CHILD KNOWING THAT, THAT, THAT, UH, SORT OF, UH, THAT THAT DECISION, IT HAS A HIGHER, UH, BARRIER TO IT. BUT FOR THE ONES WHO ARE VACCINATED, MOST ARE CONSIDERING VACCINATING THEIR KIDS, WHAT WE SEE IS THAT PARENTS ARE JUST, THEY'RE, THEY'RE DRAGGING THEIR FEET, WHETHER THEY CONSCIOUSLY OR UNCONSCIOUSLY, TO SEE IF ANY ADVERSE EFFECTS ARE SUDDENLY GONNA APPEAR AND COME OUT AMONGST CHILDREN THAT HAVE BEEN VACCINATED. AND SO, AS TIME GOES BY, THE PARENTS FEEL MORE CONFIDENT IN THE VACCINE SAFETY. AND SO THAT'S PART OF THE REASON WHY I THINK THE, THE NUMBERS THAT SCOTT WAS TALKING ABOUT EARLIER, WHERE WE SEE A MUCH HIGHER, UH, PERCENTAGE OF OLDER CHILDREN THAT ARE VACCINATED THAN YOUNGER. PART OF IT IS THAT THERE'S BEEN MORE TIME THAT THAT VACCINE HAS BEEN APPROVED. AND SO AS TIME GOES BY, PEOPLE FEEL MUCH BETTER ABOUT VACCINATING THEIR KIDS. AND SO WE ACTUALLY ASKED THEM, UM, YOU KNOW, HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE FOR YOU TO ACTUALLY FEEL COMFORTABLE? AND A LOT OF PEOPLE SAID, ABOUT SIX MONTHS, YOU KNOW, SIX TO 12 MONTHS. AND THEN THERE'S ANOTHER HALF THAT, THAT SAY, WELL, I WANT IT TO BE OUT THERE A YEAR OR LONGER. BUT IF WE KEEP IN MIND THAT, UH, THAT THE VACCINATION WAS APPROVED FOR CHILDREN FIVE TO 11, UM, YOU KNOW, TOWARDS THE END OF LAST YEAR, WE'RE REALLY HITTING THAT POINT WHERE ENOUGH TIME HAS GONE BY THAT PARENTS ARE GONNA FEEL BETTER. SO I THINK THERE'S A, A POSITIVE THING. UH, THERE WERE SOME NUANCES THAT, THAT, THAT WE'LL MENTION HERE. THERE'S, THERE'S, UH, UH, THERE WAS DEFINITELY SOME DIFFERENCES WITHIN SOME OF THE DIFFERENT DEMOGRAPHIC SEGMENTS. UH, FOR EXAMPLE, WITH, UH, THE HISPANIC PARENTS THAT WE SPOKE TO, UH, THEY TEND TO BE A LITTLE BIT MORE OPEN TO, UH, WORD OF MOUTH. UH, THEY ALSO HAD, UM, A HIGHER LEVEL OF CONCERN ABOUT THE, THAT VACCINES MIGHT IN SOME WAY AFFECT, UH, FERTILITY, UH, SPECIFICALLY AND PARTICULARLY FEMALE FERTILITY. UM, THEY'RE LESS DISTRUSTFUL OF THE MEDIA, PARTICULARLY THE LOCAL MEDIA, UH, SPANISH LANGUAGE MEDIA. AND THEN, UH, MANY PARENTS WE KNOW WHO ARE UNDOCUMENTED ARE FEARFUL OF VACCINATING THEIR KIDS 'CAUSE THEY THINK THAT IT CAN PUT THEM AT, UH, IN DANGER, UH, THEMSELVES OR OTHER, OTHER MEMBERS OF THEIR HOUSEHOLD IN DANGER. SO THAT'S AN IMPORTANT THING TO, TO NOTE AS WELL WITHIN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN, UH, GROUPS AND THE PARENTS THAT WE SPOKE TO THERE, UH, THIS, THIS GROUP WAS PROBABLY THE MOST SKEPTICAL OF GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES, PARTICULARLY THE TIED TO HEALTHCARE AND, AND VACCINATION. UM, AND ALSO THEY WERE MOST [00:20:01] LIKELY TO CITE, UH, INFERTILITY AMONGST BOYS AS A REASON TO GET THEIR KIDS VACCINATED. SOMETHING THAT DID NOT COME UP IN THE OTHER, IN THE OTHER GROUPS. UH, FINALLY IN TURN, TALKING TO, UM, UH, PARENTS OF, UH, ASIAN DESCENT, UH, THIS GROUP SEEMED TO BE THE MOST PRAGMATIC AND, AND I WOULD SAY PROBABLY THE LIKELIEST TO VACCINATE THEIR KIDS, UH, PROBABLY A BIT SOONER THAN ANY OF THE OTHER GROUPS AS A WHOLE. UM, AND, AND THEY WERE ALSO MORE LIKELY TO ACCEPT IF, IF THIS WAS, UH, A TOTAL HYPOTHETICAL THAT WAS, THAT WAS MENTIONED, UH, UH, ANY SORT OF VACCINE MANDATE. AND SO WE FELT LIKE THEY'RE CLOSER TO, TO, UH, MAKING THE, THE DECISION. AND THEN IN TERMS OF, UH, THE, THE GROUPS WHERE WE TALKED TO NON-HISPANIC WHITE PARENTS, UH, THIS GROUP SEEMED TO BE THE MOST CO CAUTIOUS OF ALL. THEY ALSO TENDED TO BE VERY ATTENTIVE AND, AND FAIRLY WELL INFORMED AND, AND BY FAR THE MOST SKEPTICAL OF, OF THE MEDIA. SO THEY REALLY, REALLY NEED MESSAGING THAT'S VERY, UH, OUTLINING, UH, JUST FACTS AND, AND STATISTICS. SO THOSE ARE JUST SOME NUANCES THAT WE PICKED UP AS WE WENT THERE. SO THAT, UH, IS THE RESULTS OF THE RESEARCH. AND, UH, THAT RESEARCH OBVIOUSLY IS, IS WHAT'S BEING USED NOW TO DEVELOP THE ELEMENTS OF THE CAMPAIGN. AND I'M, I'M GONNA TURN IT OVER TO, TO DAMON, UH, TO TALK ABOUT, UH, UH, GIVE A LITTLE MORE, UH, INFORMATION ABOUT HOW THAT CAMPAIGN IS GOING TO LOOK. THANKS, JERRY. SO, UM, THAT'S DOWN TO, YOU KNOW, COMMUNITY NEWSPAPERS, DOWN TO, UM, INFLUENCERS AND, UM, AND MEDIA THAT'S DONE IN LANGUAGE AND IN CULTURE. SO, IF, UM, YOU ALL RECALL WHEN WE DID THE, UH, THE LOPEZ DETE TEAM, UH, TOUCHPOINT, UM, DID THE WORK FOR YOU FOR THE CENSUS, UM, FOR 2020 CENSUS. SIMILARLY, THAT WORK WAS DONE, NOT JUST IN LANGUAGE, BUT IN CULTURE. SO WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR US HERE? UH, WE'RE NOW IN THE, IN THE PHASE OF, UH, DEVELOPING, NEGOTIATING A MEDIA PLAN. UH, THAT'S BOTH DIGITAL AND ANALOG. THAT'S SPANISH AND ENGLISH, TV, RADIO, PRINT, BILLBOARDS, ADS, AND DIGITAL. UM, FOR CULTURES THAT'S AFRICAN AMERICAN FOCUSED, ARABIC, VIETNAMESE, CHINESE, UH, HISPANIC, UM, AND, UM, ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDER AUDIENCES, UM, ARE BEING TARGETED FOR, UH, BILLBOARD AND PRINT. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN, BILL, BILLBOARD AND PRINT? SO, UH, WE ALL KNOW THE, YOU KNOW, THE PREVALENCE OF BILLBOARDS, BUT WITHIN THE PRINT, UM, SECTION THAT IS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO PIECES THAT WILL BE, UH, DISTRIBUTED, UH, AMONG SCHOOL CHILDREN THROUGH THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS AS TAKE HOME PIECES, UH, ESPECIALLY PARTICULARLY IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
